Try Something New - Butterfield RV Resort
& Observatory Is Seeking A Work Camping Couple
You have talked to us before about this, are you still interested? YOU may be the couple that WE
want. Are you still looking for a job for the Summer 2015? WHY? Look no further, THIS is the park you want to
become a part of.
Butterfield RV Resort is the only private RV Park in the U.S. that has a university quality observatory.
Currently we are looking for an astronomer, and the companion job would be in our housekeeping.
The astronomer would work at night (duh!) and the show(s) last for about an hour. 3 nights on and 3 nights off.
In the beginning you will invest some time creating your opening and closing "spiel", and learning a few facts
about the objects you are viewing.
Normally I would say, something like…..”I know what you're thinking..."But, I'm not an astronomer!" But, you
are. So all of that is irrelevant. This job is mostly about entertainment. We aren't running a classroom and most
people aren't going to remember one out of ten things you tell them. It's being able to relay information in an
interesting and fun way. Good communication skills are a must. We have a complete library of objects you can use.
The biggest challenge would be learning to use the telescope, which isn't hard. It's fully automated and we can
teach anyone the basics of it in 15 minutes.
In the area of housekeeping. You would work 5 hours/day, 3 days on and 3 days off. When we say "work", keep in
mind this isn't like McDonalds at rush hour. In the summer this place is pretty laid back.
So, what do you get for all this happiness?
- Full hookup site with 20, 30, & 50 amp service
- Free Electric
- Free cable TV
- Free WiFi
- Free propane
- Free laundry
- 15% discount at the camp store
There is no monetary compensation.
We are looking for the right couple that can make a commitment from April 1st-ish to early
October. Our other work camper couples typically work a five hour day, three days on and three days off.
Couples work the same days. You would not both be working a 5 hour day, nor would you be working at the same
time, (although you would work on the same days).
If this sounds like the opportunity you are looking for, please let me know. We’d love to have you on our team!
We will follow up with a phone discussion and if you are chosen, you will receive from us a letter of understanding
outlining your duties, commitment dates, as well as your expected compensation, as outlined above.
If you are interested in pursuing this further, email me with a good phone number and let's set up a convenient
time to call. Please include your time zone.
Have a great day and thank you for your interest.
