Butano State Park Is Looking For Hosts April 1st - November 30th in California

Butano State ParkHosts are needed in this beautiful redwood campground situated between Santa Cruz and San Francisco. Duties include campground registration/visitor assistance and light maintenance tasks. Hook-ups are provided and the host site can accommodate a 37' RV.

Please contact Ranger Carie Thompson at (650) 879-2027 or by e-mail at .

A few things to know about Butano...the campground is small (38 sites) and the visitors are very easy to deal with; mostly nature loving families. We very rarely have any kind of problem with crime or unruly groups. The park is BEAUTIFUL, with lots of great hiking and biking. The Ranger and seasonal staff are top notch and very pleasant to work with. Butano is located near an adorable little town with a great farmer's market, coffeehouse, bakery, and free wifi. The campground is heavily forested and can be cold (Ca standards) and dark in the early and late months of our season. The beach is a 10 minute drive and the coastline is stunning. The nearest big towns are Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz (grocery shopping and laundry)- both about 30 minutes. There is no cell service, internet service, or satellite at the camp host site. We provide telephone, and full hook-ups.

The camp host duties are general - provide information, register campers, collect fees, perform camp checks, sell firewood, and keep an eye on things. No cleaning is required, but occasionally the restrooms will run out of TP, and we ask the hosts to restock if that happens. The requirement is 26 hours per week but much of that time is simply "be available" time. There are many opportunities for volunteers with disabilities at Ca State parks but Butano requires a fair deal of walking.
