RV Park & Campground Manager(s) – Whistler, BC

Whistler RV Park and Campground, a year round park, located 15 km from  Whistler, BC  has an immediate opening for a Campground Management couple. The Park is brand new and recently opened.  Enhancements will continue for the next three to four years. We are looking for community minded entrepreneurs that will help us build this business. 

The park has 102 RV sites and the campground has 44 seasonal tent sites, catering primarily to the RV and Park Model RV market. The Managers will take care of all the promotion, reservations, accounting, and major mechanical repairs, showing park model RV’s for sale, plus maintaining the established flower gardens, establishing and managing the small retail shop operation, perform the grounds maintenance and related functions, including cleaning washrooms, gardening and painting. 

Hospitality experience is not essential, however, strong managerial backgrounds are. Participation in the local business community, Whistler Tourism Association and the Chamber of Commerce is required.

Both individuals need to enjoy helping people, whether it is to meet their needs regarding a camping spot, or assisting in finding a great restaurant or hiking trail. 

While the duties will vary seasonally,the following is required:

§ Offer tourism information and promote local area
§ Maintain and repair facility, gardens, equipment and supplies
§ Respond to enquiries and solve problems
§ Oversee operation of retail shop
§ Use business management skills
§ Use sales and marketing skills
§ Complete financial management tasks, such as managing front office books

Campground Management – Chemainus Garden RV Resort

Chemainus Garden RV Resort Ltd., located on Vancouver Island  has an immediate opening for a Campground Management couple. The Resort is a recent acquisition for the owners, who are in the process of developing more sites and renovating the existing structures. Enhancements will continue for the next three to four years. We are looking for community minded entrepreneurs that will help us build this business.

The campground has 96 sites, catering primarily to the RV and Park Model RV market. The Managers will take care of all the promotion, reservations, budgeting, accounting, and major mechanical repairs, showing park model RV’s for sale, plus planting the garden, hosting and coordinating leisure and arts events, maintaining the established flower gardens, establishing and managing the small retail and coffee shop operation, while one full-time staff (at present) and part-time staff perform the grounds maintenance and related functions, including cleaning washrooms, gardening and painting. The season's first guests arrive in early March and some stay through to the end of the summer. Guests from Canada’s colder regions will spend the winter with us.

Hospitality experience is not essential, however, strong managerial backgrounds are. Participation in the local business community, Vancouver Island Tourism Association and the Chamber of Commerce is required. Attendance at the annual BC Lodging Association conference would be desired in order to develop and maintain knowledge of industry

Oxbow RV Resort

Whistler RV Park and Campground - Camphost Position

 ROLE
Volunteer RV Park and Campground Hosts work part time in the rv
park/campground assisting with the reservation system, selling rv and
camping permits and providing customer service to visitors.

Duties vary, but can be a combination of the following:
  • Live at the rv park and campground from 2nd week in May through at least the week after Labor Day - unless otherwise specified by Park Manager.
  • Ability to work well with and report to the Park Manager
  • Support park office with customer service ( bookings, payments)
  • Answer visitor questions and provide them with excellent customer service
  • Verify guests have purchased an entrance and/or camping passes
  • Educate (NOT ENFORCE) rv park guests and campers about park rules & the protection of natural resources
  • Communicate potential or actual problems to the park manager.
  • Pick up trash in rv park and campground, light cleaning or stocking of restrooms
  • Must provide own living quarters like a tent, trailer or RV
  • Willingness to help out with light maintenance
  • Willing to work schedule set by Park Manager that includes weekdays and weekends in exchange for a rv site or campsite with water, sewer, and electrical hookup
  • Assist with the campground reservation system and bookkeeping
  • Assist team in “Green Initiatives” efforts (i.e. recycling programs)
  • Create and/or Update Local Attractions/Services Directory
General Information
  1. Your work schedule will be flexible. You will be busiest on the weekends when the guests are in the RV park and campground. Plan to work at least a few hours a day, six days a week and have a day off in the middle of the week. We pay BC minimum wage for hours worked beyond hours scheduled to account for accommodations. We provide you a RV site or campsite and full hookup. Each member of the couple can expect to work about 20 hours per week. Couples can expect to make from $700 to $1,300 per month.
  2. Whistler RV Park and Campground employs single campground hosts where the workload warrants only one person.
  3. Most employment opportunities begin in May and end in September with Memorial Day to Labour Day being the heart of the season. We have few year round opportunities. Employees are expected to complete the entire season of their assignment.
  4. Uniforms are required and are provided by Whistler RV Park and Campground.
  5. Employees are given one day off per week. This is usually a Tuesday or Wednesday, but other arrangements can be made if approved by the Park Manager.
  6. Hosts are required to become familiar with all rules and policies, and to comply with them.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of our property and what we provide.
  • No ‘green’ experience required but just a willingness to learn and live ‘green’ on the property. Willing to uphold our current green objectives, which we will educate you on, if needed.
  • Willing to commit to the full time period, usually 3-6 months. For the right applicant and for a good reason, we "may" be somewhat negotiable on the exact start and end date. Please indicate on your application.
  • Camp Host must be a responsible adult or couple that has integrity, the ability to read and follow specific instructions, is reliable, and has the drive & ability to complete simple tasks in a timely & efficient manner.
  • Ability to communicate and report back to the park Manager and head office through email. Must own a cell phone (good cell phone reception on the property, free wifi on the property).
  • Cleanliness and an eye for keeping things tidy.
  • Cleaning up after yourself at all times is a MUST and helping to keep the general resort tidy is also a requirement.

Work Camper On St. John River in New Brunswick

A work camper duo is being recruited for small campground on the St. John River in New Brunswick, Canada. Needed is a duo Campground Assist Team for all or part of the 2010 camping season (May 1 - October 11) that are interested in working in exchange for a site at our campground. The Outpost at Winter Harbour offers free camping and pay for an individual or couple. Winter Harbour is a remote community on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Sports Fishing is BIG here - salmon, halibut, lingcod, red snapper. Lots of great hikes, amazing beaches, abundant wildlife, and few people.

Winter Harbour has fewer than a dozen permanent residents, and summertime the population swells to about 200. Most people come to Winter Harbour for the fishing. There is little commercial activity here, and no restaurants.
