Camp Host At Jefferson National Forest
US Forest Service Host Needed for Jefferson National Forest in
southwestern Virginia White Rocks Campground is near Goldbond VA. It is a wonderful place for those
who enjoy a natural setting and don’t need lots of amenities. It is located in the midst of a
typical Appalachian forest and a small creek meanders thru the campground. There are 35
campsites located around two loops. There are two restrooms with flush toilets, but no
showers.
The host site has full hookups but the rest of the campground does
not. The campground contains primitive sites with grills, tables and tent pads and centrally located
water spigots. There is a dump station in the campground. A phone is nearby but there is no cell
service in this area. The closest town is Pearisburg, VA 30 minutes away.
Hosts are expected to work most weekends Friday - Sunday as well as
holidays - approximatley 20 hours per week and have off during the remainder of the week.
The primary duty of the host is to maintain the cleanliness of the
restrooms and camp sites, including fire rings. All cleaning supplies are provided by the
government. Applicants must have good people skills and be physically able to perform the
services required. No housing is provided. Volunteer must bring their own camper and provide
their own reliable, licensed vehicle and fuel. References are required. Background check
