Suburban RV water heaters use a porcelain-lined, steel water tank that has an anode rod to offset electrolytical effects. According to Suburban this may double, or triple the hot water heater life. Also Suburban gas waters feature 12,000 BTUH for a rapid recovery rate, and combo gas/electric water heaters utilize a 1,440-watt heating element to recover an extra 6 gallons of hot water per hour.
For additional insulation, Suburban uses a copolymer insulation jacket which the company claims will retain heat better than the cardboard insulation used on competing RV hot water heaters.
