At the Strawhouse we make overnight fermented and hand rolled bagels, breads (including yeasted and sourdough), pizza dough, and baked goods. This position would be perfect for someone who would like to take their baking to the next level or for an experienced baker who is looking for the flexibility to let their creative side shine. We have a wood fired pizza oven on the property, which is available for baking as well as a Blodgett Convection oven, US Standard commercial range, and walk-in refrigeration and freezer. The bakery is separated from the café and therefore this position calls for an independent and self- motivated individual. Thorough training will be provided to the right applicant. Summary: The baker’s job is to work with the café to maintain consistent inventory of a variety of baked goods (cookies, muffins, cakes, bars, scones, etc.) and bread products. Come enjoy beautiful weather, miles of hiking trails, and excellent fishing lake at Lake Morena County Park! Lake Morena sits on 3,250 acres of land about one hour east of downtown San Diego. It holds 85 camping spots (partial hookup, full hookup, and tent sites), 10 wilderness cabins, a youth group camping area, a fishing lake and boating dock, 8 miles of trails, a picnic area, and a playground. The park is also surrounded by USFS land, making it a beautiful rural destination not too far from the city. There is generally a busy spring and summer and a quiet fall and winter. Each year, Lake Morena gets thousands of campers, fishermen, and day-use visitors. The Park Host position is a live-on volunteer position. Hosts may assist staff in tasks such as fee collection, maintenance projects, custodial duties, and campground checks. In return, Park Hosts are permitted to park their RV onsite without charge—including electric, water, and sewer hookups. The only constantly reliable cell phone service is though AT&T. Verizon sometimes gets service in certain areas of the park. Site pads are between 30’ and 40’, depending on what is available at the time of application. The Camp Lockett Event & Equestrian Facility (CLEEF), an unique campground and multiple use facility located in eastern San Diego County. Applicants must be willing to make at least a 4 month commitment of 25 weekly hours of volunteer time. In return applicants will receive water, sewer and electrical hookup for their travel trailer or motorhome. Hosts should expect to use a variety of cleaning solvents and chemicals, power tools, hand tools, gardening instruments, farm machinery, etc. All tools and equipment should be maintained responsibly. A high emphasis is placed on interacting with CLEEF’s guests; volunteers should always be professional and cordial, and must be able to accurately answer questions or refer guests to the appropriate person while understanding the facility’s chain of command. CLEEF’s hosts are expected to know, understand, and point out issues that violate CLEEF’s rules and regulations, but are not to try and enforce these rules under any circumstance. Maintaining a neat and clean host site is also a very important expectation for Hosts. Host opportunities include highly developed sites on the shore of Lake Almanor, riverfront campgrounds, and less developed sites surrounded by natural lakes and designated wilderness. The Lassen is located where the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Cascade Mountains, and the Modoc Plateau meet. Countless outdoor recreation opportunities are available in the are including world class fishing, boating, hiking, cycling, and OHV riding. Lassen NF surrounds Lassen Volcanic National Park which features boiling mud pots, lava beds, cinder cones, and Mount Lassen, a dormant volcano standing over 10,000 feet in height. Hosts are provided with propane as needed, a camp site for the season, and dump stations. A limited number of partial hookup sites are available. Salary is not included at this time. We are seeking a couple with experience, but not necessary. Must be in good physical shape as at least half of the time your duties will require outside physical work. The park's campgrounds are nestled amongst the redwoods and beautiful Peter's Creek and Pescadero Creeks flow through the park. It is beautifully situated in a grove of large old-growth on the south bank of Indian Creek, near its junction with the Navarro River. Indian Creek Park is the only park in the Mendocino County Parks system that allows overnight camping. It is a popular retreat for many – visitors from all over the country have enjoyed this quiet “getaway” spot only 20 miles from the Pacific Ocean. Besides the 10 campsites, Indian Creek Park offers running water, picnic tables, clean restrooms, camp fire pits, and BBQ grills. Indian Creek Park is open on a "first-come first-serve" basis beginning the first weekend in April until the last weekend in October. Campground rates are $25.00 per night, this fee includes 1 vehicle. For any additional vehicles there is a $2.00 fee. Visitors complete self service campground registration envelopes and deposit their fees in a collection box. Indian Creek Campground Volunteer Host A Campground Host is a specialized volunteer role in Mendocino County Cultural Services Agency Parks Division. Hosts are recruited to be visible representative of the Mendocino County Parks Division at Indian Creek Campground and its day use area. Hosts provide basic operational services and information to the visiting public. Hosts reside temporarily in a recreational vehicle or trailer in the designated “Campground Host” campground site during the open season which is the first weekend in April through the last weekend in October. Individuals and couples are welcome to apply. Minimum Qualifications Campground hosts must be over that age of 21 and physically able to carry out the assigned duties. Hosts must supply a suitable recreational vehicle or trailer, described as a motor home, travel trailer, truck camper or camping trailer in good repair, not exceeding 26 feet in length, subject to approval from County staff. Hosts must also complete a County of Mendocino Volunteer Application with North Coast Opportunities, be interviewed by County staff, and supply personal references. The County will also require a copy of the following: proof of a valid Driver’s License, vehicle registration and proof of vehicle insurance. Host Duties and Responsibilities The primary role of a host is to provide park visitors with information, assistance and service. Duties include encouraging compliance with park rules and regulations and assisting visitors in finding and using the self registration envelopes and campground fee collection box. Secondary duties include interpreting resources, performing light housekeeping and janitorial duties like maintaining the restrooms. This includes empting the trash, sweeping the floor, cleaning the mirrors and ensuring that soap, toilet paper, and towels are properly stocked. Additional duties may include performing minor maintenance tasks such as picking up litter, emptying trash, raking the campsite pad, washing or wiping picnic tables, or cleaning campfire rings. Hosts must be available 5 days a week including all weekends and holidays, and be available during designated duty hours (minimum of 15 hours per week) to meet visitor and park operational needs. Hosts should be observant at all times, reporting on infractions to the proper authorities, and providing informational, non-law enforcement advice to campers. The Cache Creek Regional Park Campground is located in the beautiful Capay Valley, just north of the town of Rumsey. The campground has 45 individual camp sites, 4 large group camp sites, 2 permanent restroom buildings, large turf area, playground, picnic areas, office and several outbuildings, and provides pedestrian access to Cache Creek. The camping season is generally early April-early October. The Camp Host area includes a paved pad (approximately 12’ x 45’) with a large carport shelter. Utility hook ups include electricity, sewage connections, propane, and potable water. Camp Host RV/trailer must be in good working order. Limited satellite internet service and office phone is provided. Cell phone service is not currently available at the campground, but Camp Host is required to have a working cell phone available at all times using wifi-calling. Regular duties include greeting park visitors and explaining rules and regulations, checking in and checking out campers using online reservation system, maintenance of restrooms and shower facility, inspecting campsites after visitors leave, picking up trash, cleaning fire rings, and light landscaping and grounds maintenance. The manager’s responsibilities include money handling, closing the drawer, ensuring that the café is clean and well-presented at all times, and maintain a high employee moral creating an exceptional work environment and customer experience. Café Manager Job Description This position is unique because it requires the manager to have proficient culinary skills, as well as guest services, and FOH service. An important part of the position is to eliminate waste, oversee portion control, and maintain inventory. We hire work- campers (employees that live on site in their RVs), and so part of the hiring process is to build a community that will function well outside of work. At the Strawhouse we make overnight fermented and hand rolled bagels, breads (including yeasted and sourdough), pizza dough, and baked goods. This position would be perfect for someone who would like to take their baking to the next level or for an experienced baker who is looking for the flexibility to let their creative side shine. We have a wood fired pizza oven on the property, which is available for baking as well as a Blodgett Convection oven, US Standard commercial range, and walk-in refrigeration and freezer. The bakery is separated from the café and therefore this position calls for an independent and self-motivated individual. Thorough training will be provided to the right applicant. Summary: The baker’s job is to work with the café to maintain consistent inventory of a variety of baked goods (cookies, muffins, cakes, bars, scones, etc.) and bread products. It holds 85 camping spots (partial hookup, full hookup, and tent sites), 10 wilderness cabins, a youth group camping area, a fishing lake and boating dock, 8 miles of trails, a picnic area, and a playground. The park is also surrounded by USFS land, making it a beautiful rural destination not too far from the city. There is generally a busy spring and summer and a quiet fall and winter. Each year, Lake Morena gets thousands of campers, fishermen, and day- use visitors. The Park Host position is a live-on volunteer position. Hosts may assist staff in tasks such as fee collection, maintenance projects, custodial duties, and campground checks. In return, Park Hosts are permitted to park their RV onsite without charge—including electric, water, and sewer hookups. The only constantly reliable cell phone service is though AT&T. The Camp Lockett Event & Equestrian Facility (CLEEF), an unique campground and multiple use facility located in eastern San Diego County. Applicants must be willing to make at least a 4 month commitment of 25 weekly hours of volunteer time. In return applicants will receive water, sewer and electrical hookup for their travel trailer or motorhome. Hosts should expect to use a variety of cleaning solvents and chemicals, power tools, hand tools, gardening instruments, farm machinery, etc. All tools and equipment should be maintained responsibly. A high emphasis is placed on interacting with CLEEF’s guests; volunteers should always be professional and cordial, and must be able to accurately answer questions or refer guests to the appropriate person while understanding the facility’s chain of command. CLEEF’s hosts are expected to know, understand, and point out issues that violate CLEEF’s rules and regulations, but are not to try and enforce these rules under any circumstance. Maintaining a neat and clean host site is also a very important expectation for Hosts. The Lassen is located where the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Cascade Mountains, and the Modoc Plateau meet. Countless outdoor recreation opportunities are available in the are including world class fishing, boating, hiking, cycling, and OHV riding. Lassen NF surrounds Lassen Volcanic National Park which features boiling mud pots, lava beds, cinder cones, and Mount Lassen, a dormant volcano standing over 10,000 feet in height. It is beautifully situated in a grove of large old-growth on the south bank of Indian Creek, near its junction with the Navarro River. Indian Creek Park is the only park in the Mendocino County Parks system that allows overnight camping. It is a popular retreat for many – visitors from all over the country have enjoyed this quiet “getaway” spot only 20 miles from the Pacific Ocean. Besides the 10 campsites, Indian Creek Park offers running water, picnic tables, clean restrooms, camp fire pits, and BBQ grills. Indian Creek Park is open on a "first-come first-serve" basis beginning the first weekend in April until the last weekend in October. Campground rates are $25.00 per night, this fee includes 1 vehicle. For any additional vehicles there is a $2.00 fee. Indian Creek Campground Volunteer Host A Campground Host is a specialized volunteer role in Mendocino County Cultural Services Agency Parks Division. Hosts are recruited to be visible representative of the Mendocino County Parks Division at Indian Creek Campground and its day use area. Hosts provide basic operational services and information to the visiting public. Hosts reside temporarily in a recreational vehicle or trailer in the designated “Campground Host” campground site during the open season which is the first weekend in April through the last weekend in October. Individuals and couples are welcome to apply. Minimum Qualifications Campground hosts must be over that age of 21 and physically able to carry out the assigned duties. Hosts must supply a suitable recreational vehicle or trailer, described as a motor home, travel trailer, truck camper or camping trailer in good repair, not exceeding 26 feet in length, subject to approval from County staff. This includes empting the trash, sweeping the floor, cleaning the mirrors and ensuring that soap, toilet paper, and towels are properly stocked. Additional duties may include performing minor maintenance tasks such as picking up litter, emptying trash, raking the campsite pad, washing or wiping picnic tables, or cleaning campfire rings. Knights Landing Boat Launch is located at the junction of the Sacramento River and Sycamore Slough, on State Route 45, just west of the town of Knights Landing, approximately 7 miles north of the City of Woodland. The park provides access to the Sacramento River for boating, fishing, water skiing, and kayaking. The park has a boat ramp, parking lot, and vault restroom. Duties include assisting with minor park maintenance including litter and trash removal, restocking supplies and cleaning restrooms, explaining park rules and regulations, occasionally walking grounds to place payment reminder slips on vehicles not displaying parking receipts, reporting unusual activities and emergencies, and other projects or assignments based on park needs and hosts’ skills and interests. This is an unpaid position, but Park Host is provided with an RV site and utility hook-ups and service at no cost. A minimum six-month commitment is required. This 230 acre recreation center is located less than a mile from the Pacific Ocean. Privately managed by a non- profit organization, the Elings Park Foundation is seeking volunteers as Park Hosts to provide guest services to thousands of visitors. The park is a hidden gem that offers five athletic fields, tennis courts, beautiful venues for weddings & special events, off-leash dog walking program, nine miles of trails, summer camp programs and home to adult softball, rugby, soccer and lacrosse leagues. Park Hosts must be courteous, customer oriented, friendly and able to get along with many different personalities. A Park Host will be expected to spend most of their time outdoors performing a variety of visitor services, including, but not limited to general supervision of park visitation, collection of parking fees on weekends and holidays, monitoring weddings and private events, helping guests at our tennis courts, administrative work, opening and closing various areas of the park daily.
