Sherwood Forest Campground Has A Co-Host Position Available In Illinois $$

The City of Hillsboro, Illinois is seeking a single or couple to serve as co-host for the 2019 camping season at Sherwood Forest Campground. Sherwood Forest Campground has 122 permanent sites with water and electrical hookups, 30 daily sites and additional tent/primitive sites and is situated between two scenic lakes in south-central Illinois. The campground is very family oriented and several activities are hosted throughout the season. The co-host(s) will partner with and assist the returning camp hosts in all facets of the position. General Duties of the Campground Host The Campground Host supports the campground operation and provides a valuable point of contact for visitors and campers in the campground. You will welcome visitors, oversee campground registration, direct campers to their sites, sell firewood, collect and account for fees, and remit fees to City Hall. You will also inform campers of campground regulations, policies, and procedures that apply to them. It is important that the Campground Host be knowledgeable about local points of interest, including but not limited to: City parks and recreational areas, the City lakes, fishing, answers to questions of a general nature about the area, etc. Your job is more about enlightenment and less about enforcement. The most important responsibility that you will have is great customer service. While on duty, the Campground Host is an ambassador of the City of Hillsboro and a liaison between the City and campers/visitors. It is very important that you speak and act courteously and professionally, that you stay visible and approachable to campers by being outdoors frequently and that you act as a good camper role model. You will need to have good people skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to diffuse situations. The Campground Host also communicates visitor safety concerns and maintenance/repair needs to the appropriate City personnel. It is important to provide a safe and clean environment for campers. It is expected that you will perform light maintenance work around the campground, such as picking up litter and ensuring that the bathrooms at the shower house, Fourth of July Point, Cabins #1 & #2 and Little John are clean and have adequate supplies. There are occasions when mowing and light landscaping work is required, as well. The Campground Host is expected to perform his/her duties with the exact times and days to be determined by the Commissioner and/or Superintendent. The Campground Host will be expected to perform his/her duties on holidays. The actual hours worked may vary from week to week, and throughout the season, but the Campground Host is expected to maintain 24-hour availability for the days he/she is scheduled. We are looking for people that have great communication and customer service skills, are able to take initiative, and take pride in their appearance, work and our facilities. Prior camp host experience and basic knowledge of electric and plumbing are a plus, but not required. Compensation includes free campsite with full hookup, 30 or 50 amp electrical service, free wifi and a salary of $500/month ($3500 for the season). The Sherwood Forest Camping season begins on April 1, 2016 and ends on October 30, 2016. Hosts would be asked to be on-site by March 20th for orientation and move in of permanent campers and stay about a week after October 31st. For more information on the positions contact Parks Supt.
