Welcome spring to scenic Northeast Iowa and help spread it with Plantpeddler’s beautiful flowers. With trout, bass, and catfish ready to be caught, the Prairie Farmer trail to bike and walk, a native prairie to hike, an extensive city park system to enjoy, and many local attractions including food scientist Norman Borlaug’s birthplace, the Howard County Historical Museum, and an indoor shrimp farm, Cresco and the surrounding area is a perfect place to explore.Balance those activities with at least 20 or so hours a week at a wholesale greenhouse during the most exciting time of the production year – mid-April through May. You will learn how to pull orders of premium annuals and vegetables for gardeners and consumers throughout the upper Midwest and then create early summer product by transplanting starter plants into unique and colorful combinations. Or maybe you want to drive a moving van and hear the oohs and aahs from our happy customers as you make deliveries a few days a week. As an added benefit, our professional horticulturalists are happy to share helpful hints for your own gardening success while you are here. There are a number of campgrounds in the area, but the closest to the job site is Howard County Fairgrounds which offers water, electrical, and dumping. Following is some basic information about the park:•240 acres •50 acre lake•124 electric hookups•two shower houses (13 and 7 years old)•indoor skating rink, beach concession, boat rental•resident park ranger•average over 100 units per weekendThe main responsibility of the host is to open/close and maintain one shower building. Their are two hosts. They close at 10:30 and open at 6:00 AM. Some hosts have chosen to do more: answer questions, help with park litter pickup, etc.Each host is provided a concrete pad with water, sewer and electrical hookup.
