Dallas County Conservation Board (DCCB) has an opening for a Park Caretaker (Camp Host) at Sportsman Park, Dawson, Iowa, for the 2020 season of May 1, 2020 to October 31, 2020. The Park Caretaker will provide their own camper/RV to be located in a designated camping spot at Sportsman Park at no cost. Water, electricity and sewer hookup is provided at no cost. The Park Caretaker will be responsible for opening and closing the park entry gate, checking camping registrations, checking the shower house and restrooms facilities, doing basic cleaning when necessary and picking up litter and branches. The DCCB will pay a stipend based on $100 per week. The Sportsman Park Caretaker is considered to be a private contractor and is not an employee of Dallas County. A background check will be completed on the applicant. This position closes on February 17, 2020. With 40 acres of oak and hickory forest overlooking the North Raccoon River, Sportsman Park is a lovely area for camping, fishing, hiking the nature trails, picnicking, or playing on the accessible playground. It’s a very short distance off the Raccoon River Valley Trail and is a popular overnight stay with trail users. Two all-season cabins can be reserved for overnight rentals throughout the year. Modern and primitive campsites are also available from April—November. A 120-person lodge can be reserved for day-use. Wilder Park Is Looking For Camphosts For The 2020 Camping Season In Iowa

Park is open from April 18th thru last week of October. Volunteer Hosts are provided a concrete pad with water, sewer,and electrical hookup with WIFI. Golf cart provided Camp hosts are expected to greet and checkin campers,take to sites, answer questions, understand and explain park rules and regulation to the campers and help enforce when needed. Help maintain the campground and park areas through activities such as pickup litter, clean up campsites after guest check out, keep shelters clean as needed.Other projects and assignments based on park needs and hosts skills and interests. Not responsible for cleaning restrooms or shower house. Wilder park located east of Allison, Ia on Highway 3, is located on 78 acres which is connected to the Rolling Prairie Bike trail. We have a lodge, a shower house, 2 cabins, 54 campsites with 50 amp service, 26 full hookups and tent site camping. Two ponds are located in the park providing good fishing for crappie, bluegills, bass and catfish. We have 3 shelter houses and many free amenities for the family to use. We have a music stage and have concerts on Saturday nights in May-June-July and a concert series on Wednesdays in July and August. The Glenn Miller Orchestra has performed in June the past 5 years. With trout, bass, and catfish ready to be caught, the Prairie Farmer trail to bike and walk, a native prairie to hike, an extensive city park system to enjoy, and many local attractions including food scientist Norman Borlaug’s birthplace, the Howard County Historical Museum, and an indoor shrimp farm, Cresco and the surrounding area is a perfect place to explore. Balance those activities with at least 20 or so hours a week at a wholesale greenhouse during the most exciting time of the production year – mid-April through May. You will learn how to pull orders of premium annuals and vegetables for gardeners and consumers throughout the upper Midwest and then create early summer product by transplanting starter plants into unique and colorful combinations. Or maybe you want to drive a moving van and hear the oohs and aahs from our happy customers as you make deliveries a few days a week. As an added benefit, our professional horticulturalists are happy to share helpful hints for your own gardening success while you are here. We are an organization that is dedicated to preserving our past. We have a campground, museum, rental hall, and annual Old Time Power Show in August. Some of our camp host responsibilities include: greeting campers and directing them to suitable sites, collecting camping money, clean up campground upon camper's departure, clean and restock restrooms, mowing and trimming in the camping area, and empty trash cans on a regular basis. We are seeking a campground host for Spring Lake Park, located 7 miles NE of Jefferson, Iowa. Following is some basic information about the park: 240 acres 50 acre lake 124 electric hookups two shower houses (13 and 7 years old) indoor skating rink, beach concession, boat rental resident park ranger average over 100 units per weekend The main responsibility of the host is to open/close and maintain one shower building. Their are two hosts. They close at 10:30 and open at 6:00 AM. Some hosts have chosen to do more: answer questions, help with park litter pickup, etc. Each host is provided a concrete pad with water, sewer and electrical hookup. Attendants provide guests with customer service, handle cash, resolve issues, clean the park and restrooms, and other functions to ensure a great experience for guests of the campground. Some duties include light maintenance and operation of small machines such as push mowers, weed trimmers, and power washers. Office duties include the need for an attention to detail, cash handling skills, and great customer service skills. Typically this position is filled by a team of two individuals who work together during each shift and opposite of another team of two individuals. Compensation includes hourly wage plus camping site with full hookup (cable TV service not guaranteed) for the employment term. Attendants must provide their own camping unit. Spook Cave & Campground, McGregor, IA is accepting applications for our campground host position. Our campground is in a beautiful natural valley that is full of mature hardwood trees. We are surrounded by limestone bluffs which form Spook Cave. The waterfall that our camp host camps by flows into Bloody Run, a state stocked trout stream. We also have a fishing and swimming lake and other activities. McGregor, Iowa is a tourist and antique town located on the banks of the Mississippi River near the Wisconsin and Minnesota borders. Popular local activities include boating, fishing, antiquing, dining, bird watching, casino gaming, and wine tasting. The camp host is responsible for the campground from 5:30 pm until 9:00 am. Duties include checking in campers, selling firewood and ice, and doing the laundry from our log cabin rentals. Our previous camp host worked here for 12 seasons. We are open from May 1st – October 31st. 30/50 amp electric, water, and sewer stream side site is provided to the camp host.
