Couples (Singles) To Be Camp Hosts For 2020 Season In Kimball, Nebraska

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the hospitality field while spending time outdoors and assisting campers. We have opportunities for both individuals and couples! If you are applying to work as a couple, each person needs to complete a separate application. This is a volunteer opportunity. Applicants must pass a background check and be at least 18 years of age. The applicant must be outgoing, courteous, and helpful to all visitors. The applicant must provide their own functional recreational vehicle for living accommodations. The NRD will provide electricity and water for the camp host. A 30/50 Amp hookup, water hydrant and sewage hookup are located at the camp host site. Tents are not allowed by the campground host. About Oliver Reservoir Recreation Area: The Oliver Reservoir Recreation Area (ORRA) encompasses more than 917 acres of land and a 264-acre lake, located 8 miles west of Kimball, Nebraska on U.S. HWY 30. Oliver is the only recreation area of its kind in the southern Panhandle. GPS:Lat.41.22;Long. -103.82 The lake is stocked with walleye, yellow perch, largemouth bass, channel catfish, bluegill and rainbow trout. Ducks and geese frequent the area, accompanied by deer and other wildlife. There are 49 campsites, 7 bathrooms and 2 shelter houses, picnic areas, playground, firepits, grills, handicapped-accessible fishing dock and parking lots. Also enjoy boating, water skiing, jet skiing, kayaking, scuba diving, footpaths, fishing, bird watching, wildlife viewing and hiking. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for checking in/checking out campers, greet visitors; provide assistance and information; explain park rules, and camp checks; report hazards or unsafe conditions and emergencies immediately to the SPNRD Assistant Manager; contact NRD or appropriate personnel to address rules & regulations violations; perform other duties as assigned; maximize use of the campsites as to the appropriate sized vehicle for specific sites; experience in the recreation industry preferred; knowledgeable about visitor services and amenities in the campground; positive attitude toward the campground environment; genuine concern for guests’ experience; ability to work unsupervised. Qualifications: The Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; high level of interpersonal communication skills, self-motivation; ability to work independently and problem solve; previous experience of campground operations preferred; The applicant must be outgoing, courteous, and helpful to all park visitors; report to the Assistant Manager at the South Platte Natural Resources District. Physical Requirements: Must be able to walk some distance when verifying campers have registered. We’re a small 50 site Campgroud with laundry, bathrooms/showers, and a pool on site. You would work 2 days on and 4 days off with FHU site with WiFi and cable tv, and some pay. Work includes answering our phone and taking reservations, checking in campers and escorting them to there site. Testing our pool 2x a day and making sure no kids under 16 are in pool by themselves without parent. We’re a very friendly family Campgroud and our customers are first and foremost important to us making sure there needs are met. On your days off there is lots to see and do here. We’re a old western town with the famous Boot Hill Cemetery, Front Street, Western Cattle Trial and Lake McConaughy just 10 miles from Campgroud where the beaches are all sand with water sport rentals available. Denver Colorado, Estes Park Colorado only 200 miles away which makes for a wonderful day of site seeing. South Dakota to the black hills is only 200 miles and our other hosts have taken there 4 days off to explore the blacks hills. So with lots to do on your days off and only work 2 days with 4 days off is the perfect workamping job out there! Volunteer Camp Host with Nebraska Parks

The Campground Host program is a group of volunteers, over the age of 18, who are willing to be ambassadors of the state park system for others. The host program generally operates from April through September every year. The hosts have the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors while helping others enjoy their own camping experiences. Campground Host responsibilities: Greet campers, answer their questions and orient them to park and region Assist in campground registrations and reservations Be accessible to campers for comments and complaints Understand and explain park rules and regulations to campers Help maintain campground and park area through activities such as picking up litter, clean up camp sites after guests check out, raking, mowing, replenish restroom supplies and assist in keeping the bathhouses clean Contact park staff and other law enforcement personnel about emergencies Other projects and assignments based on park needs and hosts’ skills and interests To become a Campground Host you: Must be age 18 or older Must be willing to devote a minimum of two weeks to their selected campground Must be on duty a minimum of 4 hours a day, but are on call in case of emergencies Weekends and holidays are included in time served To Apply: Fill out and submit the form at theNebraska Game and Parks Commission’s Campground Host page at http://outdoornebraska.gov/campgroundhost/.
