We are a busy full service, family oriented campground, located in a beautiful valley in the Black Hills of SD. The campground sits on 23 acres between Mt. Rushmore and Custer State Park, on the scenic Iron Mountain Road. Deer, turkey and big horn sheep are regular visitors to our campground. Our positions include: maintenance Maintenance: This position is responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of the facilities, including cabin repairs, lawn & grounds maintenance, pool upkeep, special projects and more. Hello future work camper. My name is Lisa, I am the owner of Belvidere East/Exit 170 Journey KOA. We are located 12 miles south of Midland, SD and 7 miles east of Belvidere. This is a very remote location in South Dakota, but only ½ mile north of I- 90. Our nearest Walmart or McDonald’s is over 80 miles away. We are a KOA Journey designed as a one night stop over for campers in-route to the Badlands, Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Devils Tower, or Yellowstone. Many of our customers call us a hidden gem on the prairie and choose to stay a couple nights with us due to the peacefulness of our location. During the day, many watch our wildlife (rabbits, antelope, birds, etc.) around our campground and at night turn to watching the sky. We do not have light pollution so many photographers come here to take pictures of the stars and constellations. We are looking for 2 sets of work camper couples that enjoy a fun working environment, smile easily, have a good attitude, are goal oriented and want to MAKE IT GREAT! These openings are for our 2021 season (May 1st to September 30th). Our President's and Founder's Award-winning campground covers 45 acres of prairie land surroundings and has 60 sites. We are actively using about 20 acres for our campground. There is always something to do. We have an active RV park for our size. We ask our work campers arrive one or two weeks prior to the official start date (site free of charge) to get use to the Mountain time zone, explore the area before starting work, get your supplies stocked up and just relax and enjoy the campground. **Please note this is a high paced working environment, with majority of the time the park being at full capacity.** We cross train our employees for every job. So, it is a little different here: everyone can and knows how to do everything. What does this mean for our workcampers? It means you are not continually doing the same thing every day!! You could be outside in the morning, check customers out of their sites, picking up trash and verifying sites are ready for turnover to the new customer and then in the evening be inside working the front desk or making food in the kitchen. We strive to have employees that are excellent with customer relations and willing to be a team player. We must have everyone working together to ensure that our guests have a positive camping experience. Our employees must be a self- starter and able to determine the priorities of the different tasks during your shift without being told. COMPENSATION Our work week is 32-35 hours per week, but if interested in more hours we can schedule up to 40 hours if needed. We provide 2 days off, back-to-back. The same days off are provided to your partner, allowing time to restock your supplies and explore all that South Dakota has to offer and enjoy. Our compensation includes a full hook-up site with 25 channels of cable and internet. We pay $11.00 per hour for every hour worked, the only thing you have to pay for is your electricity payable monthly. Payroll is bi-monthly, paid on the 1st and 15th of each month. We also provide a Badland/Black Hills attractions card that provides you with free or limited entrance fees to various sites. Physical Requirements Able to move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 20 pounds without assistance. Requires: the use of hands/fingers to handle or feel objects, long periods of standing, bending, kneeling and walking required. Able to work inside and outdoors frequently and in various climates. Capable of moving safely over uneven terrain. This Journey KOA is primary overnight campground away from big cities - tranquil country setting. Getting to the Belvidere East / Exit 170 KOA is easy off, easy on, just 1/2 mile north off I-90, Exit 170. All the RV sites are long pull through with free cable TV and Wi-Fi. During the summer months we serve pizza in our café. There's a fenced-in area where your dogs can run loose and exercise.
