The Confederate Reunion Grounds State Historic Site Is Looking For Site Hosts
in Mexia, Texas
Site hosts needed for We have an immediate opening due to a
cancellation for March/April through September at peaceful historic
site in east Central Texas.
This site does not have campgrounds, however, sites hosts can
stay in a covered, cemented RV pad with full amenities in
exchange for 24 hours of work per week. Amenities include 15
amp, 30 amp, and 50 amp service, propane paid (150 gallon tanks
at RV sites), and Wi-fi.
A washer and dryer, refrigerator, deep-freeze, restroom with
shower, and covered parking are also available. Quiet remote
location, 8 miles from town. The Navasota River runs through the
historic site offering fishing, canoeing, kayaking.
Maintenance person needed to operate zero-turn mower, tractor,
weed eater, and some knowledge of general maintenance of
facilities (plumbing, carpentry, electrical). Custodial duties include
cleaning small visitors’ center and offices and two public restrooms. May also include some
gardening duties. Site is open 7 days a week, so schedule is flexible with the exception of gate
opening/closing duties on Sundays and Mondays

Summer is a busy time for us with the Natural Springs, lots of
swimmers. You will be collecting fees and checking on the

Lake Houston Wilderness Park is now Seeking Camp Hosts!
Lake Houston Wilderness Park (LHWP) is
currently seeking camp hosts to live on site in
this beautiful, lushly forested expanse of nearly
5,000 acres. The park is located four miles east
of New Caney (approximately 30 miles north of
Houston) off Hwy-59. Lake Houston Wilderness
Park is the only park in the department’s
inventory that allows overnight camping. This is not an RV park; only camp hosts can park RVs on
the property.
Although there is no hunting allowed in the park, there are plenty of other things to do. It offers a
variety of outdoor learning experiences for people of all ages including camping, hiking, trail
running, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, birding, fishing, and horseback riding (visitors must
bring own bikes, fishing equipment, watercraft, and horses). Camp hosts are not allowed to board
horses at the park. Most of the park is heavily forested with beautiful trails which provide a perfect
setting for photography, nature study, bird watching, and relaxing.
The position is a part-time volunteer position assisting with essential end of day and after hours’
functions related to guest safety and security, custodial, maintenance and backup cashiering. The
Camp Host work duties will primarily be greeting campers, collecting fees, maintenance, cleaning
facilities, office duties, assisting with Nature Center duties, and other duties that match up with
host’s skills and interests. In exchange for these work duties the Camp Host will be given a
campsite with full hookups, and free use of facilities.
Opportunities for Site Hosts to assist in public education, resource management, visitor services,
and maintenance of gardens and trails is available during unscheduled volunteer hours.
Essential Functions:

Pick up trash around the park

Provide assistance in set-up/clean-up of facility rentals

Check/restock supplies at center bathrooms

Texoma Destinations Is Looking For Workcampers For Spring/Summer Season
2021 At Three Locations In Texas $$
We are Texoma Destinations, which owns/operates several
businesses around Lake Texoma. We are currently seeking
workcampers for our Summer season at three different locations.
We have a long history of workcamping, a structured environment,
and a competitive compensation package.
We ask for 15 hours per week (per team or individual) in exchange
for a FHU Site. All other hours worked are paid. Our Workcamping
Teams are asked to help with a variety of duties depending on the
individual or couples strengths and desires.
Positions include Gate Attendant, Retail, Lawn Maintenance, General Maintenance,
Housekeeping, and Guest Services. We do have a full-time maintenance, housekeeping, and
reservation team for all of our locations, so we ask our Workcampers to do what they can to handle
small day-to-day issues (and know when to call in reinforcement), handle the check-ins and walk-
ins, and help with groundskeeping and landscaping (a huge and never-ending job). Other
responsibilities may include painting, site upkeep, tree trimming, etc. If a candidate has a certain
skillset, we always try to cater to them.

San Jacinto Battleground SHS Is Looking For Friendly And Motivated Volunteers
To Serve As Site Hosts In Texas
San Jacinto Battleground SHS—the birthplace of Texas—is
looking for friendly and motivated volunteers with a RV to serve as
site hosts. We require 100 hours of volunteer work a month for
couples or 75 hours a month for a single person, and request that
volunteers stay for 3 to 6 months.
Primary duties include: cleaning the bathrooms and museum, assisting staff with opening and
closing the site, and emptying the site trash cans. Please let us know if you have any specialized
skills. Maintenance, mechanic, photography, and crafting skills are all a plus! During the current
pandemic, site hosts won’t be asked to interact with the public, and interpretation and education
opportunities will be rare. You will be required to work outside occasionally.
This is a volunteer position, meaning no salary is paid, however the RV site and utilities are
provided rent-free. Site utilities include: water hookup, sewer hookup, 50 amp power outlets, and
laundry facilities. A background check is required of applicants, per Texas Historical Commission
regulations. Please be aware that if you are coming from another state besides Texas you will be
requested to self-quarantine for two weeks upon arrival.

Position Summary:
Mitchell Lake Audubon Center is a 1,200-acre wildlife refuge, located in south San Antonio, TX.
The property is owned by the local water utility, San Antonio Water System (SAWS), and managed
by the National Audubon Society. The historic Leeper House serves as its visitor center, with a
small education pavilion on property. The site includes 7.5 miles of both walking and/or driving
trails.
The center and the surrounding grounds are open 6 days per week year-round and attracts visitors
from all over the world. Being a part of the Audubon team means making a difference for
conservation. The Site Host position is a part-time, seasonal position assisting with essential end
of day and after hours’ functions related to guest safety and facility support and security. Site Hosts
support Mitchell Lake Audubon Center by ensuring all visitors have left the property at the close of
business hours, and securing the gates and parking lot.
Site Hosts can expect to work an average of 10 hours per scheduled week. When not working,
opportunities for Site Hosts to volunteer in public education, resource management, visitor
services, and maintenance of gardens and trails is encouraged at the minimum of 20 hours per
week.
Essential Functions:

Open front gate to visitors at appropriate time.

Sweep and pick up trash around gate entrance.

Sweep porch of general debris.

Pick up trash along fence line and across property as needed.

Provide assistance in set-up/clean-up of facility rentals.

Ability to make sound decisions related to safety and security.
•
Proficiency on Microsoft Office required.
•
Ability to drive utility vehicle, ATV, riding mower, tractor, and/or 12-15 passenger van a plus.
•
Preferred experience in general maintenance, working with the public, and/or in customer
service roles.
•
Ability to walk at least 2 miles to conduct trail sweep preferred.
•
Bird and plant identification experience (especially as it relates to Texas) a plus, but not
required.
•
Training provided as needed.
•
Must be able to lead walking tours and programs while outdoors on and off-trail.

Must be eager to learn and share knowledge.

Must be comfortable working with youth and the public.
•
Must be self-motivated and able to both follow directions and work independently.
•
Must demonstrate ability to be reliable and punctual.

Experience with active, outdoor work including hiking and observing wildlife in physically
strenuous settings, variable weather conditions, in remote locations, and on hazardous terrain
preferred.
•
First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.

Camp At Our Dolan Falls Preserve In Texas
Dolan Falls Preserve located in Val Verde County along the
Devil’s River.
Work is largely maintenance including plumbing, electrical, and
basic construction. Beyond maintenance duties, the volunteers
will also serve to monitor visitation and provide information to the
public as necessary.
Neither the site nor roads accommodate an RV; hosts would stay
in an on-site facility with 2 bedrooms, full bath and kitchen. We are looking for a volunteer who is
interested in supporting The Nature Conservancy’s mission to preserve the lands and waters on
which all life depends.
Required: 30 hrs/week, 3 month minimum. Position available immediately. Applicant must be 18 or

ensuring a high-quality experience for visitors to public lands, we

Texas Parks and Wildlife Park Hosts work 25 hours per site, per
week in exchange for full hook up. Park Hosts at Enchanted Rock
assist park staff with various duties, including customer service,
search and rescue, traffic direction, interpretation, and general
maintenance of grounds and facilities.
A Criminal Background Check is required. Two park host sites are available at the park September-
December. All sites have WIFI, water, electrical and sewer hookups. There are also freezers, a
washer and dryer, and a kitchen available for your use.
