The park is in Skamokawa, SW Washington, right on the beautiful Columbia River. The park host’s duty is to be the Port’s representative to day use guests of the park, as well as overnight guests. The Park Host oversees the park after office hours, delivers wood, checks in guests, and answers any questions. Water, sewer, electrical and garbage is provided in addition to a monthly salary. Position Summary The Volunteer Campground Host will serve as a liaison between campers in the Grant County Fairgrounds RV and camping spaces; the maintenance staff, Fairgrounds office staff and county staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following examples of duties and accountabilities illustrate the general range of tasks assigned to the position but are not intended to define the limits of required duties. Duties may vary depending on area or areas to which assigned. Other essential duties may be assigned consistent with the general scope of the position. Volunteer Campground Host must comply with all County and department policies, procedures, RCW's, WAC's, or other regulatory bodies. Greet and assist visitors, answer questions and explain regulations which apply. Distribute maps, copies of park rules and regulations, and brochures about State Parks. May assist campers in locating a campsite, be familiar with local points of interest and the location of services that might be requested by campers such as towing, groceries, churches, tourist attractions and local events. Will perform light maintenance work around the campground such as litter pickup, sweeping and stocking of restrooms, provide information to Fairgrounds staff on potential problems, and disseminate information to campers. May assist in campground public relations, educational activities, and special events/activities. Clean campsites by performing minor maintenance tasks such as raking the campsite pad, washing tables, cleaning out fire rings, picking up litter, and reporting any damage to the Maintenance Supervisor. Each host must be licensed with a WA state food handlers permit. We will pay for this and walk you through the steps. It will take about 1-2 hrs to complete the test. We are a privately owned campground and cater to families with children, pet owners, family reunions, weddings, etc. We offer 15 full hook-ups, 8 power/water hook-ups, 5 cabins, and 4 primitive tent sites. Jim Creek is nestled in the foothills of the North Cascades. We are located on an active duty military base. We are very limited in amenities so grocery shopping and most other activities will be done off base. We do have a laundry room (free use for you)and depending on how COVID precautions evolve we may have our Gym open as well. We have 23 tent sites, 12 RV sites, 20 standard cabins, 4 Deluxe Cabins, 2 Dens, 2 Mallard Campers, 3 remote tent sites, and 1 Lodge that sleeps 50 ppl. We also have a lake that we stock yearly with rainbow trout, 8 different hiking trails, bike trails, a 50ft Alpine Tower, 30ft rock wall, corn hole, ping pong, basketball court, gaga ball pit, 2 dog parks, 3 playgrounds, and 2 giant chess/checkers boards. We do NOT have cell phone service. Our nearest cell service is about 15 minutes away. We do have Wifi located in our recreation building but it is unreliable and not guaranteed at this time. (we will hopefully have it back up and working in October/November). Our current camp hosts have found ways to get cell service while on site but it is also unreliable and shouldn’t be counted on. We are open year round and do have guests with us in the winter months. We see higher rentals around the holidays. Jim Creek does see snowfall each winter. Primarily in February and March but this past year it was mostly in January and February. We sometimes only see a few inches but we can also see 4 feet. Luckily it doesn’t stick around for very long. A few weeks at most. Our maintenance team does their best to keep roads plowed so entering and exiting your RV site is possible. Jim Creek is nestled in the foothills of the North Cascades. We are located on an active duty military base. We are very limited in amenities so grocery shopping and most other activities will be done off base. We do have a laundry room (free use for you)and depending on how COVID precautions evolve we may have our Gym open as well. We have 23 tent sites, 12 RV sites, 20 standard cabins, 4 Deluxe Cabins, 2 Dens, 2 Mallard Campers, 3 remote tent sites, and 1 Lodge that sleeps 50 ppl. We also have a lake that we stock yearly with rainbow trout, 8 different hiking trails, bike trails, a 50ft Alpine Tower, 30ft rock wall, corn hole, ping pong, basketball court, gaga ball pit, 2 dog parks, 3 playgrounds, and 2 giant chess/checkers boards. We do NOT have cell phone service. Our nearest cell service is about 15 minutes away. We do have Wifi located in our recreation building but it is unreliable and not guaranteed at this time. (we will hopefully have it back up and working in October/November). Our current camp hosts have found ways to get cell service while on site but it is also unreliable and shouldn’t be counted on. We are open year round and do have guests with us in the winter months. We see higher rentals around the holidays. Jim Creek does see snowfall each winter. Primarily in February and March but this past year it was mostly in January and February. We sometimes only see a few inches but we can also see 4 feet. Luckily it doesn’t stick around for very long. A few weeks at most. Our maintenance team does their best to keep roads plowed so entering and exiting your RV site is possible.
