About the Role

Do you love the mountains and enjoy creating memorable outdoor experiences for others? Cedar & Spruce Campgrounds is currently seeking a reliable, friendly, and self-motivated Campground Manager (Host) to oversee daily operations at Lower Lakes Campground, a scenic, quiet retreat in the heart of Peter Lougheed Provincial Park in Alberta’s beautiful Kananaskis Country.

This position is best suited to a couple or a sociable, independent individual who enjoys interacting with the public, takes pride in cleanliness and upkeep, and thrives in a remote setting. The role requires on-site living in your own RV. While the site does not have electrical hookups, we provide propane, water, and gas, along with firewood for personal use.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Site Management:

  • Oversee daily operations of the campground, ensuring campsites, vault toilets, and common areas are clean and safe.
  • Conduct walk-throughs to identify hazards, ensure rule compliance, and complete light maintenance.
  • Manage firewood inventory, sales, and garbage collection/disposal.

Guest Services & Communication:

  • Greet campers, assist with check-ins, and provide local information.
  • Collect fees and manage a combination of reservation and first-come, first-served sites.
  • Handle guest questions, concerns, and minor issues with professionalism and care.

Security & Safety:

  • Monitor campground activity and enforce rules (noise, fire bans, wildlife safety, etc.).
  • Act as first point of contact in emergencies and coordinate with Alberta Parks and/or emergency services as needed.

Maintenance:

  • Clean and restock vault toilets regularly.
  • Rake sites, clean fire pits, and perform basic repairs and reporting.
  • Maintain an overall tidy, welcoming environment.

On-Site Living Requirement:

  • Must live on-site in your own RV (no power available; propane, gas, and water provided).
  • Must be available evenings, weekends, and holidays throughout the season.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Friendly, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Physically capable of performing outdoor work in varying conditions (lift 25 lbs, walk uneven ground).
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable personal transportation.
  • Level 1 First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
  • Clean Criminal Record Check (required prior to hiring; reimbursed).
  • Previous campground hosting, maintenance, or guest service experience is an asset.

Compensation:

  • $160–$190 per day (based on experience)
  • On-site campsite included (non-serviced; propane, gas, water supplied)
  • Firewood for personal use included
