The O’Keefe Ranch is located outside of Vernon in Spallumcheen and is a not-for-profit heritage site consisting of 20 heritage buildings, a riding ring, an RV site, a museum, and other areas of interest on a 50-acre piece of farmland.
We are looking for someone to provide volunteer work in exchange for being provided an RV spot. We offer power and water. Please note the water is not guaranteed as potable. Depending on the setup, we can offer laundry facilities. We do not have sewer.
There is an endless number of tasks available and we would tailor the hours to meet your skillset. Maintenance is always a concern and help with woodworking, irrigation, working on heritage buildings, mechanical (servicing vehicles, golf carts or tractor) or assisting in the ground with weeding, cleaning of animal pens, assisting with grant-related projects such as building glamping sites, water mitigation, restoration of buildings, etc.
There are also a limited number of administrative tasks available. They would not be possible on their own but would be possible if a couple were to traveling through and one worked on maintenance items and a second person on administrative or if one person did a bit of both.
Administrative tasks would be confirming current RV stays have paid and any minor free advertising of sites.
If you are an actor or history buff and wouldn’t mind dressing and talking the part, we do have positions available running a General Store or possibly other areas of the site while we are open to the public.
The number of volunteer hours is dependent on the skill and we are open to any negotiations. As a not-for-profit, we rely on volunteers to keep us going and we appreciate all offers.
