Washington on the Brazos State Historic Site Is Looking For Volunteer Hosts In Texas

Texas Historial CommissionKnown as the “Birthplace of Texas,” Washington-on-the-Brazos SHS seeks friendly, outgoing people to fill a wide variety of volunteer/host opportunities year-round. These include the Star of the Republic Museum, Visitor Center/Gift shop, Barrington Plantation Living History Site, Independence Hall, Fanthorp Inn, and maintenance.

Working at these sites may include wearing period clothing, heat/sun exposure, leading tours, operating retail software, using maintenance equipment (lawnmowers, etc.). We will happily utilize any skill set you may have while doing our best to accommodate your needs. We ask that new site hosts stay a minimum of 2 months, working a minimum of 24 hrs. per week.
