Tyrrell Seed Orchard Is Looking For Onsite Host(s) Patrols In Oregon
Summary of Responsibilities
The Onsite Host(s) patrols and maintains a presence during weekends, after-business hours, and on holidays, and performs janitor duties and other miscellaneous routine duties. In addition, the Onsite Host(s) assists TSO staff 6 hours/day, three days/work week with orchard projects. Orchard projects include assisting staff with projects in the tree orchards, e.g. picking up downed limbs and piling, pruning trees, cutting brush, tree inventory, etc. The Onsite Host(s) shall be capable of and participate in physically active tasks that may last 3-6 hours at a time and shall be flexible and able to adapt to various weather and change in tasks. The volunteer must be physically able and willing to walk on rough terrain/slopes/uneven ground.
Onsite Host(s) Requirements
Volunteers must keep the host site neat, orderly, and looking nice; have a valid driver’s license and good driving record; pass the BLM background check; and stay current with required BLM training such as Defensive Driving that will be provided by BLM. Onsite Host(s) must possess a service-to-others attitude, be honest, friendly, and patient. Onsite Host(s) will work with supervisor to identify a volunteer schedule. This schedule will include 3 workdays during the week of 6 hours/day, weekends, after-business hours, and holidays.
The BLM will provide the use of a government vehicle when performing security patrols and government errands, once the proper training is completed. The BLM will also provide the use of tools, supplies, materials, and safety equipment when performing volunteer duties. Volunteers are not expected to do any task for which the BLM has not provided the necessary instruction, materials, and equipment (including personal protective safety gear). If tractor, forklift, UTV, or other BLM equipment is assigned to be used by the volunteers, the volunteer will first take the required trainings. Volunteers will not assume duties beyond those described above unless approved by the BLM contact and will not act as law enforcement.
