City of Nelson Campground Is Looking For Campground Host In British Columbia

City of Nelson CampgroundVolunteer Title: Campground Host
Commitment: Must be available and present evenings onsite at the City of Nelson Campground
Compensation: This is a volunteer position. You will be provided with access to a campsite with power, sewage, and water hookups as well as access to laundry facilities for the duration of the contract.
Start Date: May 1, 2024
End Date: October 16, 2024
Under the direction of the Campground Attendant and in collaboration with Manager, Youth and Community Programs the Campground Host ensures a high quality experience for all park visitors between 10PM and 7AM.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform a public relations role in the Campground by answering questions about camping, park facilities, park programs, park rules, and nearby points of interest;
  • Perform light duties in the Campground such as litter pick-up, stocking of restroom supplies, and reporting needed repairs;
  • Completing nightly inspections of the Campground to ensure campers have checked-in and paid camping fees;
  • Ensure campers are in compliance with the rules and policies of the Campground and The City of Nelson;
  • Provide a visual presence in the common room and other areas of the Campground throughout the night

The Campground Host agrees:

  • The Volunteer agrees that he/she shall attend/monitor the Campground during the hours of 10:00pm until 7:00am each and every day of the week, Monday through Sunday;
  • Agree to ensure the Campground is attended/monitored for camper safety, quiet, and to provide host activities;
  • Contact the Nelson Police Department for assistance in the event of emergency;
  • Ensure there are no persons other than campers, who have checked into the Campground with the Campground Attendant or Host, camping in the Campground;
  • Conduct periodic perimeter checks of the Campground and visual checks of the bathroom and kitchen area;
  • Keep shift notes and report to the Campground Attendant at the start of the 8:00am shift;
  • To provide their own camping gear/camper and personal items and to set an example as a model camper by practicing good housekeeping and being courteous and helpful to the public.

Spruce Wilderness Lodge Is Looking For A Camp Host For 2024 Starting June 1, In British Columbia $$

Spruce Wilderness LodgeSpruce Wilderness Lodge is a remote resort, located at the east end of Bonaparte Lake, in the B.C. interior. The property comprises 6 cabins, 2 chalets and a number of trailer sites. Fishing is fantastic at this and numerous small lakes nearby.

A camp host is needed for 2024, starting at June 1 until Sept 30. 1 person or a couple, needed for 20 hours per week. Days off to be negotiated. Hours in excess of 20 hours will be paid at the end of stay, at the rate of $20.00.
Minimum length of stay – 30 days.

The host will need the following capabilities:

  • Friendly, approachable manner
  • knowledge of basic cleaning duties
  • good physical condition
  • strong organizational skills
  • basic maintenance skills
  • be able to operate tools and equipment (hand tools, lawn mower, weed eater)

Duties Include:

  • grounds maintenance ( garbage pickup, weed control, some painting)
  • firewood splitting and distribution
  • cleaning of cabins/wash house
  • providing information and assistance to guest to ensure a safe and enjoyable stay.

iRVin’s Park and Campground Is Looking For Work Camper Couples For The 2024 Season in Valemount, British Columbia $$

iRVin's Park and CampgroundOur park, located on the edge of the Rocky Mountains, just over an hour from Jasper, AB, is a full service park offering sites for every size of unit and type of stay. We have hosted many people overnight and others who stay the whole season. Tourists participate in local tours or ride the trails in our spectacular downhill bike park or travel back and forth to Jasper. Others relax and enjoy our wonderful mountain views.
Our job requirements are for 2 couples who will start around the beginning of May and work through the end of September. Each couple will work 4 days and then get 4 days off, alternating with the other couple during the camping season. This would be suitable for 2 couples who are already friends, or have the opportunity to get to know and work with new people. Work hours vary according to which part of the job each person is undertaking, but usually no more than 7 hours per work day.
Applicants should be happy, friendly individuals who like to meet people, self motivated and capable of working without direct supervision, cooperative and flexible. Good health and full mobility are required. Spoken and written English are necessary, other languages especially German, French or Dutch are assets in meeting campers. Some computer skills are necessary for the person working in the office. Always happy to welcome people who are handy with tools–plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanics, RV maintenance.
Applicants need to have their own RV unit. A full service site with either 30 or 50 AMP power is provided for each couple for the summer. You are also offered free laundry and WiFi. A monthly management fee is paid to each couple. At the end of the camp season, staff also share financially in the success of the season.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Daily cleaning of vacated sites, collection and organization of garbage and recycled materials.
  • Vehicle maintenance
  • Lawn mowing, whipper snipping, tree trimming and other site maintenance.
  • Propane service by one member of each couple (training and licensing provided after arrival).
  • Cleaning of washrooms, laundry and office/store facilities.
  • Office duties including registration of campers, answering phone calls, taking reservations, maintaining computer based reservation system.
  • Answering camper questions about the park or local attractions.
  • Helping to address and solve problems or conflicts within the park.
