Sullivan’s Camp Cacapon Is Looking For Camp Hosts ASAP In West Virginia
MEDICAL EMERGENCY: We lost our Camp Hosts due to a hip injury (on a previously replaced hip).
Sullivan’s Camp Cacapon is located in Morgan County, West Virginia, 20 minutes from downtown Berkeley Springs. We are a very small, family owned, campground with just 8 primitive tent sites, 2 glamping tents, 2 cottages, and 1 RV site (technically 2). We also have a boondocking lot, pavilion and 2 bathrooms. This is our family retreat, turned campground. We opened for campground guests in 2021 and have a very low occupancy rate. Our campground is located directly on the Cacapon River which is well known for its crystal-clear slow-moving waters. Perfect for kayaking, tubing and fishing.
For the 2021 and 2022 seasons, our campground was “self-managed”, whereby our guests receive a confirmation email after making an online reservation. This email contains all of the information they need to find our property, access the locked gates, where to unload, where to park, how to clean up, etc. If we were on site, we would greet the customers. But we informed them, that there was no management onsite. The RV and tent guests are responsible for cleaning their sites, to include moving the campfire ash to the main bonfire pit before departure. We had a landscaping company that mowed about every-other week and a housekeeping crew that cleaned the cottages after each rental as well as the bathrooms.
This has worked out thus far, with the only exception being the super isolated cases whereby the customer has driven their vehicle onto the grassy areas and parked next to their tent sites. We’ve also had a couple water leaks that needed immediate attention. In these rare cases, we live 2.5 hours away which makes it very difficult for us to handle.
For the 2023 and 2024 season we had WONDERFUL Camp Hosts. However, we lost both to medical emergencies. We can provide their contact info so you can get their feedback on our family and the campground duties.
We are seeking a couple to serve as Campground Hosts. Hosts are volunteers who live in the campground full-time and assist with the day-to-day operations of the campground. They are responsible for onsite management of campground, landscaping/mowing, cleaning the cottages & bathrooms, light maintenance, providing a site presence and representing Camp Cacapon. This is a volunteer position for 20 hours weekly. Camp Hosts are to be present 7 nights per week in exchange for an RV site with full hook ups (water, electricity and sewer) and WiFi. There are DEFINITELY exceptions to this, as we are VERY LOW occupancy and short 2-4 day trips are fine.
