Flora Foundation Cat Rescue Is Looking For Help With Caring For A Feral-Stray Cat Colonies In Ohio

Flora Foundation Cat RescueCentral Ohio 35 min south of Columbus, village of Williamsport. Commitment of 1-4 months if possible. 1-2 people or a couple.
Accommodation in exchange for 15-18 hours week. Wi-Fi included. You would need to provide your own food, and toiletries.

Accommodation is a 2 story brick building upstairs, with large fully furnished shared main space of a lounge/ kitchen, bathroom, and 2 bedrooms (your own private room) There is also storage space and off street parking, and an outdoor patio. The living quarters are upstairs (18 steps) and the downstairs is an open warehouse/ storage area where the cats hang out.

I need help caring for a feral-stray cat colonies. When I am away, this includes twice daily feeding of the cats, this is a daily 7-day commitment of one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening (approx. 2 hours per day). Inside and outside. Oh and scooping litter boxes. You will share this space with me when I am home, and I will help with feeding (so work hours will be less). You will have a lot of freedom to explore the area or work on your own.

There are currently about 30 cats, 7-9 of these are friendly strays in which they can be petted and wonder in and out of the living space upstairs, others seek shelter downstairs where they freely come and go, and some are unsocialized outside only. An abandoned house 2 doors away, I feed 5 cats. I also go every 4 days to feed cats at a barn. I buy all the cat food.

This would be a great for someone who works part-time remotely, a writer, artist, retired, or you can obtain part-time work locally. There are many fun nature related activities within 2 hours drive and city fun in Columbus 35 minutes away.

Occasionally, I help a senior lesbian woman who owns this property in town that I live in. But she has family nearby that helps her most times. She lives separately in her home 5 miles away (130 acre property is a conservation farm with a restored 125 year old log cabin, wetlands, prairie and woodlands with hiking trails along the Deer creek). She is a 5th generation farmer and a conservationist. When she passes her trust will fund the nonprofit to take over the cat rescue.

I ask that you help keep our living space neat and tidy (clean your dishes, vacuum, etc). Help keep tidy the outside space, (mowing a very small lawn, clean up leaves in the fall, clear snow in winter) Some weeks you may put in 1 hour, other weeks 3 hours. You would not be responsible for paying for any maintenance and upkeep, and would be reimbursed for gas if you provide transportation.

I am a 63 year old woman who has traveled a lot. I am a former herbalist, massage therapist and wholistic health consultant. I came here during the pandemic to help my elderly friends and got caught up in helping the stray and feral cats. I occasionally have a job that will take me away for a month at a time (I’m a FEMA reservist) and/ or I would like a break to travel so I need reliable help with the cats.

I ask that you like cats and interact with them, be mentally and emotionally mature, dependable, flexible, have reliable transportation and be financially independent. The living space is upstairs, so you must be able to walk up and down 18 step staircase many times a day, be able to squat or kneel and lift 30lbs and be ok with feeding cats outside in any weather.

I can provide references and I would ask you to do the same. Thank you for considering this. Do you have any questions? Please call me 440-396-9329 Cynthia
